Idaho & Oregon Enhanced Concealed Weapons License Course

About this event

The reasons for taking the Idaho Enhanced Concealed Weapons License course:

1. Good for 5 years

2. Qualifies you for an Idaho and Oregon Concealed Weapons License.  With reciprocal agreements, you will be able to legally carry in about 40 states (more than the standard Idaho license)

3. Allows you to carry on Idaho State college campus's
4. It makes purchasing from a firearms dealer faster.  Many private persons will only sell to a concealed weapons license holder for liability reasons.

Who is eligible for an Idaho Enhanced Concealed Weapons License:

1. Persons age 21 years or older at time of application to a sheriff's office.  18, 19 and 20 year olds may take  this course, however they will be issued an Idaho standard concealed weapons license that will then expire on their 21st birthday.  They can then apply (within 6 months after their 21st birthday) without an additional class and obtain the Idaho Enhanced Concealed Weapons License.

2. U.S. citizen or a current member of the US Armed Forces

3. Those not disqualified from possessing a firearm

4. Idaho residents (Living in Idaho for 6 months or more at time of application)

5. Non-Idaho residents (if they have a CCW in their home state)

6. Those who have successfully completed the full 8 hour course and safely fired 98 rounds of ammunition

Despite the years of experience and formal training many of the students will have, this class will be taught at a basic level, and no one should not attend because of lack of firearms experience.

Location: Black's Creek Shooting Range, 2420 E. Kuna Mora Rd. Kuna ID 83634, Roosevelt (center) classroom at the top of the hill below the entrance

Times: Check in at 7:30 am, class is from 8 am to 5 pm

What to bring/wear:

Note taking materials

A thick sturdy belt (the thickest that will fit in your belt loops) to support your holster and magazine pouches.

A working handgun (semi-automatic is highly recommended) with 3 magazines.

Holster for your handgun.  **No shoulder holsters or cross draw holsters for this class.  We recommend a outside the waistband or inside the waistband holster designed to be worn on your hip.  Kydex material is recommended but there are also a number of good leather holsters if that's what you choose.  Only the most experienced shooters should use consider appendix or soft holsters.

A double magazine pouch or 2 single magazine pouches fitting your magazines.

Bring a lunch, snacks and something to drink.  To comply with the state time requirements, we will work through lunch.

Wear comfortable clothes based on the weather that you will be ok getting dirty.

Your pants must have belt loops.

No low-cut tops or wide collared shirts that hot brass could fall in and burn you.

No open toe shoes.

No red hats.

Because all the dry firing exercises will be on the range, there is no reason that you need to be disarmed during the class.  If you normally carry and are comfortable you may remain armed, but please keep your weapon holstered.  There will be plenty of time on the range for you to show your firearm to your friends there.  For those that choose not to be armed during the class, there will be 4-5 of the instructors armed for class security.

For more effective use of our limited range time, if experienced shooters and those new to shooting come together, you will probably be separated just for the range portion of the class.  If this your case and the person(s) you are bringing is a family member it is most likely for the best.  It's my experience that we hear advice and instructions differently from our family members. When it was time for my wife and kids to become serious about shooting, I sent them to other professionals.

Thanks for your understanding,
Jim Rewald
